[It was just so cool that we didn’t really see much of Richard early, but he turned out to be a huge part of the last few seasons. And I LOVED how Nestor Carbonell didn’t know who the heck his character was until the sixth season!! :D
He was never the leader. Always second in command, never stepping up to be the leader (or maybe Jacob didn’t want him to be in charge— fair point.) Maybe he even didn’t want to be the leader because he didn’t want people to have a leader who never died. So, really, what I’m getting at with this is that there is nothing to not like about Richard Alpert.
Either “Then I don’t want to die… I want to live forever.”
or “We are all dead, every single one of us. And this, this, all this, it’s not what you think it is. We’re not on an island, we never were. We’re in Hell.”

Richard/Ben , maybe Richard/Locke
Jacob never told Richard everything, never told him his plan because Richard never would have agreed with Jacob allowing himself to be killed (because I think Jacob knew everything. As Ben said, “I seriously doubt Jacob was ever confused”. Jacob knew, and had a plan, I think.)
Richard wasn’t in the church because the most important part of his life came with Isabella.
Richard could’ve seen Isabella when Hurley translated for her in the garden.
Richard/anyone besides Isabella. NO.
